After graduation from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Mr. Zemke began his engineering career with Penfield & Smith and Stantec, and now Flowers & Associates, Inc. in Santa Barbara. He was born and raised in southern Santa Barbara County and is excited to help contribute in his profession to the communities where he grew up.

With his experience, he has acquired valuable skills and knowledge in the design of commercial, residential, public development and improvement projects in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties. He maintains effective communication and coordination between clients, sub-consultants, project teams, and public agencies to ensure successful projects.

As an engineer, Mr. Zemke performs a variety of civil engineering and project management services. His duties include the technical design and drafting of

street improvements, bridge plans, water, sewer, and storm drain systems, dry utility coordination, grading and drainage, retaining wall design, and erosion control plans.

He also prepares calculations and technical reports including earthwork calculations and analysis, takeoffs and cost estimates, project specifications, SWPPP reports, hydraulic analysis, drainage studies and reports, and stormwater quality reports. He has experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, and Retain Pro.

Some of Mr. Zemke’s notable projects include the Cabrillo Business Park in Goleta, California, a private commercial/light industrial development located adjacent to Santa Barbara Airport involving 92 acres, 22 lots, and 950,000 building SF. Another significant project is the Deckers Outdoor Corporation World Headquarters at Cabrillo Business Park in Goleta, California, including 4 buildings and over 550 parking spaces located on 14 acres.

Mr. Zemke’s work also includes design of hotels and resorts, including Goleta Hilton Garden Inn, Goleta, California and the Miramar Hotel & Resort in Montecito, California, an existing 213-room seaside resort originally established in 1887 and situated on 14 acres.

Work for school districts includes the Monte Vista Elementary School Library & ADA Improvements in Santa Barbara, CA, which included grading and drainage design, accessibility upgrades for ramps and walkways, and utility design.

Residential Development projects include the Villages at Los Carneros, Goleta, California, consisting of 465 residential units consisting of single family, three-plex and four-plex condominiums, low income housing, market rate apartments, a public park and recreational center on 43 acres. Another project is Peoples’ Self-Help Housing at the Villages at Los Carneros in Goleta, California, a residential development project consisting of 4 buildings with 70 units of price restricted rental apartments on 2.86 acres of land.

Mr. Zemke’s work includes retail development projects, numerous roadway projects, single family residential projects and wastewater projects, notably the Carpinteria Bluffs Sewer Main Replacement in Carpinteria, California.
